Hey guys. Long time since we posted as we are not getting enough time to post. We will make sure we will post more frequently now onwards. We were very excited for the next Nexus phone and this time as well Google did not disappoint us with their premium product. So we are back with a review of the Nexus 5 which was released in the first week of November (or infact on Haloween).

Nexus phones are easily the best option for a pure Android experience. However, with Nexus, Android device updates are pushed out as soon as they are available to the public and you have the comfort of knowing your device should receive the next version of Android without worrying whether your manufacturer and/or carrier will push it to your phone.
Design
Yet again, LG has been commissioned to design and manufacture this year’s Nexus smartphone. The more we look at it, we can’t help but draw comparisons to the recently outed Google Nexus 7, as the two share many commonalities. The Nexus 5 is constructed entirely out of poly-carbonate plastic, which has a soft touch matte finish to it. Naturally, it helps in giving it a lightweight (130 grams / 4.59 oz) feel in the hand,Holding it, we’ll admit that it feels pretty good in the hand and does not feel like that plastic feel which we get in some Samsung and other plastic phones.
Although it’s hard to notice, there’s actually an LED notification light below the display – dead smack in the middle, it pulsates different colors according to the type of notification. Meanwhile, above the display, we spot its peculiar shaped earpiece, light & proximity sensors, and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera.
There’s a huge border surrounding the 8-megapixel auto-focus camera of the Nexus 5, which feature an LED flash, 1080p video recording, optical image stabilization, backside illuminated sensor, and an f2.4 aperture lens. With a healthy set of gear in tow, it’ll be interesting to see how the Nexus 5 can rival some of the greats in the space. It again comes with a closed type which means that there is no option for expandable storage and change of batteries.
Delicious Kitkat
The first ever smartphone that comes with the KitKat operating system, the Nexus 5 provides a smart and simple Android 4.4 for you to work with. Personalization being the keyword, the phone allows you to customize extensively to ensure that your Nexus is uniquely yours.
Go hands-free with Voice Actions that simplifies sending texts, finding photos, using maps and everything else that you can think of doing on a daily basis. A beautiful, full screen experience that is simple and immersive, KitKat allows you to multitask without compromising on accuracy or speed. The phone also collates numbers that you call frequently and searches for matches when you get a call from an unknown number.
Camera and Processor
The device from Google comes with an 8 megapixel camera that comes armed with HDR+ technology to ensure that every picture that you click is perfect. The much-loved Photo Sphere also makes it appearance to ensure that you have a 360 degree view of that view from the window that you can relive anytime you want. The phone also sports a 1.3 megapixel secondary camera.
The Nexus 5 is also capable of taking backup of your photos automatically to ensure that you never lose a precious memory while not clogging up phone space. If you are feeling loath to enhance those vacation pictures for family viewing, just run Auto Awesome to create animations, collages and panorama shots from the existing photos in your library. There is also the option of having them turned into memorable videos with music and the works.
To say powerful would be an understatement for the 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor with support from 2 GB RAM ensures that you burn through apps without any lag or delay whatsoever. The smartphone comes with the necessary hardware to ensure that you take full advantage of the experience that Google strives to provide – tapping on an app and drumming your fingers on the table impatiently waiting for it to load is passé with the Nexus 5.
Display And Communication
With full High Definition and 445 ppi of pixel density, the Nexus 5’s 4.95 inch LCD screen shows you the world as it is. Everything looks great on the IPS screen, from any angle, be it pictures of your vacation or even just the font of the menus – sharper, clearer and denser. With NFC, LTE and Wi-Fi support, being social and in touch is a cinch with the Nexus 5. 16 GB of internal storage at your disposal for anything and everything that you can think of storing within your phone is aided and abetted by access to effective Cloud storage as well. The unit also comes with wireless charging of the 2300 mAh battery that is built-in for convenience. With the promise of being the first to latch on to further versions of the operating system, the Nexus 5 is arguably the best smartphone of its class.
Other Features
- You don’t need to touch the screen to get things done. When on your home screen* or in Google Now, just say “Ok Google” to launch voice search, send a text, get directions or even play a song.
- Android 4.4 takes system performance to an all-time high by optimizing memory and improving your touchscreen so that it responds faster and more accurately than ever before. This means that you can listen to music while browsing the web, or race down the highway with the latest hit game, all without a hitch.
- The new phone app automatically prioritizes your contacts based on the people you talk to the most. You can also search for nearby places and businesses, your contacts, or people in your Google Apps domain.
- Whenever you get a call from a phone number not in your contacts, your phone will look for matches from businesses with a local listing on Google Maps.
- Now you can print photos, documents, and web pages from your phone or tablet. You can print to any printer connected to Google Cloud Print, to HP ePrint printers, and to other printers that have apps in the Google Play Store.
